Quartetto di Roma - Biography

Italiano

Quartetto di Roma is a fusion of the chamber music and concert experience of its members, each of whom shares a common desire to continue the prestigious Italian quartet tradition.

Since its formation in 1995, Quartetto di Roma has been recognized one of the most valid groups of this genre.

Indeed, the quartet was a prize winner of the 15 th International Competition of Trapani and has been highly recommended in courses held by Accademia Chigiana of Siena.

Quartetto di Roma has participated in master classes held by famous instrumentalists such as P.Farulli (Quartetto Italiano), R. Hillyer (Julliard Quartet) and S. Harada (Tokyo Quartet).

Extremely thorough as far as the moulding of the musical form is concerned, their performances are always distinguished by a highly refined study of sound and an iridescent luminosity which exalts the details of the score.

Particularly active on the concert scene, the ensemble has performed in Italy, Spain, Holland, Turkey, Egypt and, above all, in Germany.

Indeed, the quartet performs several times a year in Germany to acclaim from the public and critics alike. Quartetto di Roma has been invited to play in such prestigious events as the Festival dei Due Mondi (Spoleto, Italy), the Neuschwanstein Festival in Germany and the Orlando Festival in Holland.

As well as the basic string quartet repertoire, Quartetto di Roma also focuses on lesser-know Italian works of the 19 th and 20 th centuries.

Indeed, one of the aims of the ensemble is to explore an instrumental tradition which has been ignored and undervalued for far too long.
