No-One But You - Queen's first recording in 6 years is dedicated to all those who died before their time. Written by Brian May and recorded by the band in mid-1997.
No-One But You
(by Brian May)
Queen have recorded their first brand new song in six years. "No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)" forms part of a new compilation album, "Queen Rocks", which reconfirms Queen as one of the hardest-rocking bands of all time. The album is released internationally on 3rd November, 1997.
Brian May finished writing "No One But You (Only The Good Die Young)" earlier this year, after Queen reformed for a one-off appearance with Elton John at the Theatre National de Chailloit in Paris. The occasion was the staging of Maurice Bejart's Ballet For Life, choreographed by the legendary Maurice Bejart, with costumes by the late Gianni Versace. The musical score for the ballet was taken from Queen's extensive repertoire including music from "Made In Heaven", Queen's final album recorded with Freddie Mercury. The ballet was dedicated to all those who died before their time, in particular to Freddie Mercury and the ballet company's leading dancer, Jorge Donn.
Following on from this theme, "No One But You" is a deeply personal rock anthem in the tradition of such Queen epics as "The Show Must Go One" and "We Are The Champions", made all the more poignant by recent events. Brian May and Roger Taylor share the lead vocals, and "No One But You" becomes the first record issued by Queen without Freddie or a guest singer, a tribute to all those who died too soon.

No-One But You (Only The Good Die Young)
Brian May
A hand above the water
An angel reaching for the sky
Is it raining in Heaven
Do you want us to cry?
And everywhere the broken hearted
On every lonely avenue
No-one could reach them
No-one but you
One by one
Only the good die young
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
And life goes on -
without you
Another tricky situation
I get to drownin' in the blues
And I find myself thinkin'
Well - what would you do?
Yes! - it was such an operation
Forever paying every due...
Hell, you made a sensation
You found a way through - and
One by one
Only the good die young
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
And we'll remember-
Forever...
And now the party must be over
I guess we'll never understand
The sense of your leaving
Was it the way it was planned?
And so we grace another table
And raise our glasses one more time
There's a face at the window
And it ain't never, never saying goodbye...
One by one
Only the good die young
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
Crying for nothing
Crying for no-one
No-one but you
