A testimony from the past...
Thus wrote Gramsci:
"Now I must touch upon a
sore spot: you, as
regards the suit, have not written to me any
more; and I, for my part, when I went to
Ghilarza for Easter looked indecent, as you
yourself told me, since you thought that it was
my fault for not having Castangia make me
a suit".
This extract belongs to a letter which bears the
date 1910, another witness of the long tradition
of Castangia, the oldest tailor's workshop for
ladies and gentlement in Italy, established in
1850.
This letter, from the book "Life through
Letter-Writing", published by Einaudi and
edited by Giuseppe Fiori, is signed by no less
than the young Antonio Gramsci, then a licče
student in Cagliari, and addressed to his father,
an important personage in the town of
Ghilarza, where he was appointed Director of
the tax office.

Ne parlava Gramsci.
"Ora dobbiamo toccare un
tasto doloroso; tu
per il vestito non mi hai pių scritto nulla; ed
io che quando sono andato a Ghilarza per
Pasqua, ero indecente, come hai detto tu stesso,
perchč credevi che per colpa mia, Castangia
non mi avesse fatto il vestito".
Dalla lettera del maggio 1910 del giovane
Antonio Gramsci, studente liceale a Cagliari,
indirizzata al padre, importante personaggio
nella vita della cittadina di Ghilarza dove
ricopriva il ruolo di direttore delle imposte.
