Facts to Face.

1. Placements are chosen for language benefit and therefore may be outside your previous work experience.

2. If you particularly want work experience in a speciel field, tell us clearly, but remember this may not be your best language experience.

3. Like any new job, the first week can be difficult. Be mature, give it time and do not expect miricles. Remember that you have to fit to the job not the job to you.

4. Think carefully about your placement and programme. Once started, changes are difficult and are made only in very exceptional circumstances.

5. Have a positive attitude, make the most of your placement and host family. See Leeds as a place that you will be coming back to make friends you want to see again. Maximise the possibilities of your stay.

6. Remember that this is a fluency specific project and not a language teaching course. If you want language teaching you should join a Leeds Metropolitan Univerity Centre for Language Studies course (see our site for details) or you can ask for Language Support with your placement. This involves an extra cost.
