This section of the project aims at explaining what sts think of Computer and English.

Sts have been asked to answer few simple questions regarding the topic .

Here are some questions :

Third class students

Di Stefano : “ Thanks to Internet people have the possibility to come into contact, to exchange ideas , opinions sometimes making friends ….”

Maugeri : “ I am passionately fond of computers. I have been using it since I was twelve …. In the collective imaginary, computer is related to the Net, which I regard
as the speedest and the most powerful means of communication. It’s really useful to me because I can easily be in touch with some friends of mine since it takes me few seconds to send them messages. There are positive and negative aspects in using it. The positive ones are that you can do shopping without leaving your house, you can pay taxes, buy tickets or book travels. The negative ones are that there are lots
of people who use the Net to share their criminal thoughts (I refer to the aedophiles) or as a means for damaging industries (hackers). Anyway, I do believe that …. if properly used, computer and the Net can really contribute to our welfare by making life much easier. 

Patanè : “ I surf the Net to search for information such as sport and fitness. I think Internet is a good means of communication because it is very speed. …. Yes, my opinion is positive because I believe computer and Internet are our future”

Pistarà : “Internet is doubtless an enormous box where with a click you can look for and find out everything you need”

Di Trapani : “….there are also negative aspects…in fact without parents’ supervision children can face with strong images or get into adults’ web sites, getting troubled or shocked….”

Messina : “…the positive aspects are : easy communication by audio and by video if you have a web-cam; ….the negative aspects are informatics piracy or virus that can damn your hard dish. They can go inside your computer and steal your private information. I think it’s better to avoid children access into Internet to prevent them from getting into adults’ web sites”.

 

Fifth class students :

Lorefice : “I am sure that who knows English well is advantaged in surfing the Net because most web sites are in English”

Frudà : “ It’s funny and interesting. I use it to help my father in his job , I look for specific information. I think it can be used by everybody everywhere !”.

Pennisi : " I often surf the Net because I' m attracted by the easyness by which Ican find every kind of information ..................generally I download music or chat with foreign students.
