I cantori di Perugia are members of the Gruppo Musicale Umbro. The main characteristic of the Gruppo Musicale Umbro is to present both vocal and instrumental music by Umbrian past and contemporary composers and popular  texts about “Christ birth and passion in the Umbrian popular tradition”. Both amators and educated singers, like the soprano Darina Camilletti ( diploma in singing at the Conservatory in Perugia ), are membres of the Cantori di Perugia. Some of the Cantori have a high education in music ( some are students in music, others have got a diploma at the Conservatory ). The Cantori are mainly performing polifonic music, both religious and not religious, but also popolar Umbrian songs adapted for choir. The Umbrian songs have been recorded by the Cantori di Perugia under request of the RAI TV and two Records Ricordi are available. 

I Cantori di Perugia have won the 1° prize in classical polifonia and the 2° prize in popular singing at the Concorso Polifonico Nazionale “Città di Ravenna”. They have participated in several festivals and Choral Meetings. They have got a good position at the International Competition in Coral Singing “C.A. Seghizzi”. The prestigious programmes presented during the XXVIII; XXIX; XXX, XXXII editions of the Sagra Musicale Umbra included music by Umbrian authors like Morlacchi, Casimiri, Pacelli, Bontempi, Abbatini and the religious event “Christ birth and passion in the Umbrian tradition”, Director, Vera Bertinetti, interpreters the Cantori di Perugia, who call themselves also Canterini or Cantarini Perugini ( this is how singers working for the Priori in the XIV century were called ).I Cantori di Perugia have performed several concerts ( more than 800 ) both in Italy and abroad : Jugoslavia ( 4 ), Switzerland ( 3 ), France ( 4 ), Sweden, Spain, Luxembourgh, Germany, Cecoslovacchia ( 2 ), Poland, Austria, United Sates, Slovacchia, Hungary. At present there are ongoing contacts with musical associations in the United Kingdom and Rumania.In 1998 the Cantori di Perugia have recorded the CD “Giubileo 2000-Lode a Cristo Re dell’Amore Misericordioso”, edition Santuario di Collevalenza, Todi, in 2001 a “CD Live” “Omaggio a Giuseppe Verdi” during the concert at University for Foreigners in Perugia.
