Mila Scatena
Bagno a Ripoli (FI)

Mila Scatena has always been very interested in art and history of fashion, maybe - she said - because of her classical studies. She started learning bobbin lace in 1994, when she met Lucia Dell'Oglio, reputed lace and embroidery teacher, who let her discover a number of specialised books which were very important to increase her technical knowledge.

As in her hometown there isn't a traditional way of working lace, she feels free to try new experiences, both as to threads and techniques and to design, usually made by herself.

She's member of Club del Punto in Croce (Cross Stitch Club) in Florence; she's also member of AMI (the Assciation of Italian lacemakers).

She's been showing her works and teaching lace in small stages in a lot of exhibits; the stages were often free, with the aim to let people know that bobbin lace is not so difficult to learn...

She's been taking part to Sansepolcro International Lace Biennial since 1998. She also participated to the lace show "Il sogno nelle mani" organised by Association "Il fusello" in Cesena.

She took also part to some TV programs, with some young pupils (primary schools) to show that love for art and beauty can be developed at every age.
