Specifying Source Layer

Use this option in conjunction with imported RPF files or Adobe Photoshop files.

If you select footage that contains layers, you can use the Source Layer list to view the layers separately, then modify only the layer you need in that footage.

Note: If you want to animate, apply filters to, or transform each layer in a file separately, make sure you import the file using either grouping or nesting. This makes copies of the footage for which you can specify source layer settings independently. For more information, see Importing Multilayer Files.

To select one layer from a source:
  1. In the Workspace panel, select the Footage operator for the footage that contains source layers.
  2. Note: You can also select the Footage operator in the Footage Library.

    The Footage Controls panel appears.

  3. Click the Source button.
  4. Disable Merge Layers to access the individual layers.
  5. Select the layer you want to see from the Source Layer list.
  6. The source layer appears. All other layers are turned off.

If you enable Merge Layers, all layers reappear and are merged together.
