Targeting Layers
Use Targeting to point one layer at another, no matter where it is in your scene. When a layer targets another, it rotates so that its Z-axis is always pointed at the pivot point of the other layer. This can be particularly useful when creating animations.
You can also create a null object that you can use as the target, or target layers to lights and the camera (and vice versa).
To target a layer:
- Select the layer.
- In the Composite Controls panel, select the layer that you want to set as the target from the Target list, or click the Target Pick button and select it in a viewport.
The layer is targeted to the selected layer. When you move the target, the layer rotates to point at it.
To target to a null object:
- Double-click the composite.
- Select a layer.
- Choose the null object from the Target list, or click the Target Pick button and select it in a viewport.
Note: This procedure assumes you have already created a null object in the composite. For information, see Creating a Null Object.
You can now move the null object. If necessary, the layer changes rotation to point at it.
