Displaying Thumbnails

All operator nodes can display a thumbnail above the operator label, either globally or on a per-node basis.

You can set thumbnails to always display. This preference is set separately for four operator node types:

If you do not set thumbnails to always display, you can still toggle the thumbnails for that type of node. For example, if the option for Paint is disabled, you can show and hide the thumbnail for a Paint operator.

To toggle a node thumbnail on or off:
  1. Select the node.
  2. Right-click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Macintosh) and choose Toggle Thumbnail, or
    press T.
  3. Note: To show thumbnails for all nodes, select all the nodes (Ctrl+A or Command+A), then press T.

To set thumbnail preferences:
  1. Choose File | Preferences, or press Ctrl+; (Windows) or Command+; (Macintosh).
  2. In the Schematic group, click General.
  3. The Schematic preferences appear.

  4. If you always want to display thumbnails for a node type, enable the corresponding Always Display Thumbnails option.
  5. Note: If you enable one of these options, you can no longer turn off the thumbnails for that type of node.

  6. If you want to display thumbnails for all new nodes, enable Display Thumbnails on New Nodes.
  7. Note: Usually, if you enable Always Display Thumbnails options, you disable Display Thumbnails on New Nodes so the chosen node types are the only ones with thumbnails as new nodes are added.

  8. Click OK.

Displaying Footage Information

For Footage operator nodes, you can show the footage details next to the thumbnail. The information is the same as the Footage details area of the Footage Controls panel.

When the Footage Information option is enabled, the thumbnail is always displayed.

To toggle Footage node information on or off:
  1. Select the Footage node(s).
  2. Right-click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Macintosh) and choose Toggle Footage Information, or press I.
