Viewing Mask Outlines

When working with masks, you can choose to display only the wireframe of the mask. In the mask operator, this prevents the masked portion from disappearing while you are working on the mask. You can also use the feature to quickly check an animation in wireframe only.

To view only the mask outlines:

1. Make sure the current operator is a mask operator or a Paint operator.
2. Do one of the following:
• Choose Window | Outlines Only.
• Right-click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Macintosh) in the viewport and choose Outlines Only from the context menu that appears.

When the current operator is a mask operator or Paint operator, masks are displayed as outlines only.

With two viewports, you can really take advantage of the Outlines Only feature. In one viewport, show the mask operator and play the clip using the Loop or Ping Pong play mode. In the second viewport, show the mask operator and enable Outlines Only.

With this setup, you can easily make adjustments to the mask shape. You can also enable Outlines Only in the playing viewport, and edit in the other viewport with Outlines Only disabled.
