Reveal Controls

This section describes the Reveal controls. It assumes that there is a Paint operator in your workspace.

To access the Reveal controls:
  1. In the Workspace panel, double-click the Paint operator.
  2. The Paint Controls panel appears.

  3. Click Reveal.
  4. The Reveal controls appear.

The Reveal controls include the following elements.

Source List

Use this list to pick the layer to use as the reveal source. Select Current to reveal from the footage currently in Paint.

Select Pick Operator to access the Select Source dialog. This allows you to choose another operator as the reveal source. From this dialog, you can also import footage from disk for use as a reveal source.

Note: The Source list keeps a record of recently used sources, so you can use the list to quickly switch sources if you are revealing from multiple footage sources.

Frame Field

Use this field to enter a timecode value corresponding to the frame you want to reveal. Enable Lock to reveal from the specified frame only.

Unlock the Frame field to reveal from a sequence of frames.

Offset Fields

Enter X and Y values in these fields to specify a position offset for the reveal source.

You can also click and drag on the Set Position button to move the reveal source to the necessary position. When you are moving the reveal source, a partially transparent image of the reveal source appears over the current footage in Paint to facilitate the placement of the source.

You can also press Alt (Windows) or Option (Macintosh) while moving the cursor in the viewport, then click to quickly set the reveal source offset. With this method, the transparent image of the reveal source is not displayed.

Edges List

Select an option from this list to indicate how combustion treats the reveal operation when it needs to go past the edge of an offset reveal source. Edge Mode options include the following.

Transparent

The reveal source is treated as transparent if you draw past the edge of the source.

Repeat

The reveal source repeats (like tiles) if you draw past the edge of the source.

Mirror

The reveal source is mirrored if you draw past the edge of the source.

Continuous

The pixels at the edge of the reveal source are repeated.

AA Button

Enable the AA (anti-aliasing) button to turn on sub-pixel positioning of the reveal source. When this option is disabled, the reveal source always snaps to the position of the source to the nearest whole pixel.

Enable this option when you are animating the reveal source position. By default, this option is enabled.
