Grouping and Ungrouping Objects

You can group individual objects to form a new object that occupies a single position in the Timeline. After grouping objects, any edits you perform on the new group apply to all individual objects in the group.

You can also ungroup any grouped objects.

To group an object:
  1. Click the Arrow tool , and Shift-click each object you want to group together.
  2. Bounding boxes appear around each object.

  3. Choose Object | Group.
  4. A new object called "Group" appears in the Timeline list, and a new bounding box surrounds the grouped object.

At this point, any further edits you perform on the group, such as moving, scaling, or rotating, apply to all objects in the group.

To ungroup objects:
  1. Click any of the objects in the group to select the group.
  2. A bounding box surrounds the group, and the name "Group" is highlighted in the Timeline list.

  3. Choose Object | Ungroup.
  4. In the Timeline list, the object called "Group" is replaced by the individual objects' original names. A bounding box surrounds each object.
