Text Toolbar

The Toolbar is divided into two sections: tools and tool options. Each tool has its own set of options.

The tools for text are the same in the Text and Paint operators; the Paint operator simply includes other tools as well.

Text Tool

Use to create and edit text. The Text tool options include the Number and Timecode Insert options.

Magnify Tool

Use to dynamically zoom in or out of an area of an image. To magnify, click and drag up to zoom in, or click and drag down to zoom out. To make a magnify selection box, hold down Ctrl or Command while dragging.

The Magnify tool options include the Zoom Factor list. Select a specific zoom factor from the list.

Grab Tool

Use to move images within the viewport. There are no options for this tool.

Arrow Tool

Use to select or deselect objects. To select an object, click it. To deselect the object, either click another object or the background. To select multiple objects, Shift-click the objects. You can also select multiple objects by drawing a selection box around the objects.

Note: To select a single character in a text block, deselect the text object, and then Ctrl-click (Windows) or Command-click (Macintosh) the character. To select multiple characters in a text block, press Ctrl+Shift (Windows) or Command+Shift (Macintosh), and click each character. Or you can also Ctrl-drag / Command-drag around the individual characters.

Once you select an object, the object selection and pivot point options become available.

Once a text object is converted to outlines, the Control Points option becomes available. For more information, see page Working with Text Control Points.
