Editing a Text Object Gradient

You can refine a text gradient by editing its profile. You can add and remove colors (tags), and change the color and/or opacity of a tag. You can also adjust the range of each color, use a different type of profile, or create an evenly distributed profile.

Note: You can animate the color (and range of color) and opacity gradient profiles. The number of gradient tags, however, is not animateable.

To edit a gradient's profile:
  1. Select the object with the gradient you want to change.
  2. Click Gradient.
  3. The Gradient controls appears.

To add a gradient tag:

Click the gradient bar at the position you want to add the tag.

To move a gradient tag:

Click and drag the tag to a new position.

To remove a gradient tag:

Select the tag(s), and click the Remove Tag button .

The selected gradient tag is removed.

To adjust gradient tag handles:
  1. Click a gradient tag to select it.
  2. A handle appears under the selected tag.

  3. You can adjust the handles as follows:
To change the color of a particular portion of the gradient:

Double-click the corresponding gradient tag, and then select a color from the Pick Color dialog. You can also right-click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Macintosh) a tag, and select a color from the color palette.

To set the opacity for an opacity gradient tag:
  1. Select an opacity gradient tag.
  2. Drag the Opacity slider to the appropriate opacity value.
  3. Note: You can also right-click (Windows) or Command-click (Macintosh) a gradient tag and set an opacity from the opacity palette.

To distribute the tags evenly:

Click the Distribute Tags button .

To reverse the order of the opacity or color tags:

Click the Reverse Tags button .
