Text Advanced Controls
Use the Advanced controls to select the type of text path and specify the character variation.
Path Options
Use the Path Options to select the type of path for the text object and to edit the text on a path property.
Note: Path Options apply to the entire text object. You cannot place only selected characters of a text object on a path.
TypeDetermines the type of text path. The options include None, Path and Loop. Like other Paint or mask objects, the shape of the paths can be adjusted, and control points can be added or deleted.
InsideWhen used with the Loop path option, shifts the baseline of the text so the text appears inside the loop.
OutsideWhen used with the Loop path option, shifts the baseline of the text so the text appears outside the loop.
Path OffsetSets where the text begins relative to the first point of the text path. The default Path Offset is 0%. A negative Path Offset shifts the path text to the left, and a positive Path Offset shifts the path text to the right. Animate the Path Offset to make the text travel along the text path or around the loop.
Character RotationRotates each text character around its base. Character Rotation can be used with all text (it does not have to be on a path).
Keep PerpendicularWhen enabled, keeps text at right angles to the text path. Keep Perpendicular is enabled by default.
Note: You can use multiple lines of text with the Path option. The path, however, only appears on the first line of text.
Variation Options
You can randomize the movement of individual text characters to create jittery or "nervous" text effects. Animate the values in the Variation options to randomize the Baseline, Tracking, Rotation, and Scale of characters in a text object.
BaselineVaries the distance that the text moves from its baseline.
TrackingVaries the tracking of the text characters.
RotationVaries the rotation of the text characters.
