Defining Tonal Ranges

To display the curves for the three tonal ranges, click the Ranges button in the Color Correction Controls panel.

To redefine highlights:

Drag the right tangent handle next to the H.

To redefine shadows:

Drag the left tangent handle next to the S.

Example: To see the effects of the curves on color balance:
  1. Go to the Color controls.
  2. Using Hue, Tint and Strength, adjust the color balance for each of the Shadow, Midtone, and High-light ranges. Note the effect that these adjustments have on the image.
  3. Go to the Ranges controls and adjust the curves.
  4. Go back to the Color controls. Without changing the color balance setup, note that the resulting image is different from that in step 1. The difference is the result of the changes that you made to the curves for the shadows, midtones, and highlights.
