Displaying Light in a Composite

To view the lighting, enable the Render Effects options. They control the rendering of the lighting and surface effects in the composite. When you move a light or change its properties, combustion renders the image and displays the result in the viewports.

When you create a 3D composite, these options are disabled by default. Disable the Render Effects options to improve display performance when you are not working on lighting effects.

The Render Effects options also determine which lighting and surface effects are rendered when you render a composite. For information, see Rendering.

Note: For information on working with surface effects, see Surface Properties.

To display the light in a composite:
  1. Select the composite whose lighting you want to view.
  2. In the Composite Controls panel, click Settings to show the Settings controls.
  3. Enable the required Render Effects options.

    Enable:
    To:

    Shading

    Shadows

    Reflections

View reflections and highlights on surfaces created by light bouncing from one object to another.

  4. If the composite is the current operator in the viewport, the lighting and surface effects appear.
