Loading Audio

You can load an audio file in the Audio panel, or load the audio portion of footage when you open or import the clip.

There is one audio source per workspace. You can have more than one piece of footage with audio in the workspace, but only one appears in the Audio panel. It can be mono or stereo.

To load audio in the Audio panel:
  1. Show the Audio panel.
  2. Click Browse.
  3. In the Open Audio dialog, navigate to the file that you want to load, select it, and click OK.
  4. The path and name of the audio file appear in the Audio panel, and a waveform is generated.

  5. In the Audio panel, click the Play button to play the audio clip.
To load audio when you open footage:
  1. Choose File | Open.
  2. In the file browser, select the footage that you want to open.
  3. In the lower pane of the file browser, select the file that includes the audio you want to use.
  4. When you select a file that supports audio, the Set as Audio Source button is available.

    Note: The button is unavailable if the format of the selected file cannot support an audio track.

  5. Enable Set as Audio Source, and click OK.
  6. In the Open Footage dialog, select the type of operator you want to create, and click OK.
  7. The selected files are opened into the workspace. In the Audio panel, the path and filename of the audio source appear, and a waveform is generated.

To load audio when you import footage:
  1. Select a composite.
  2. Choose File | Import Footage.
  3. In the file browser, select the footage that you want to import.
  4. In the lower pane of the file browser, select the file that includes the audio you want to use.
  5. When you select a file that supports audio, the Set as Audio Source button is available.

    Note: The button is unavailable if the format of the selected file cannot support an audio track.

  6. Enable Set as Audio Source, and click OK.
  7. The selected files are imported into the composite. In the Audio panel, the path and filename of the audio source appear, and a waveform is generated.
