Rendering a Single Image

In addition to using the Render Queue to render a movie or sequence of frames, you can quickly render the current frame of an operator. The current frame is the frame displayed in the active viewport.

To render a single image:
  1. Choose File | Save Image, or press Ctrl+Alt+S (Windows) or Command+Alt+S (Macintosh).
  2. The Image Output Options dialog appears.

  3. Select the required image format from the Format list and use the Options button to set additional options for the selected format.
  4. The list is the same as in the Render Queue dialog except the image sequence options do not have "Sequence" appended on the format name. For more information, see Choosing an Image Format.

  5. Select a frame size from the list, or select Custom and enter the size in the Width and Height fields. For more information, see Choosing a Frame Size.
  6. Select a bit depth from the Depth list. Only a few formats support higher bit depth. The Original Depth shows the bit depth of the output's operator. For more details, see Setting Bit Depth of Rendered Images.
  7. Set the Channels options. For more information, see Choosing Which Channels to Render.
  8. Click OK.
  9. The Save Image dialog appears.

  10. Use the browser to navigate to the appropriate directory, or enter a path and filename in the File field, and then click OK.
  11. A single image is rendered and saved to the selected directory.
