Starting the backburner Manager
Before a network render can begin, Manager must be started on a workstation designated as the manager for the network rendering session, and Server must be started on each workstation participating in the network render.
Note: You can also run the Manager application as a Windows service. Once an application is installed and started as a service, it runs continuously, even after you restart the system. See the backburner Online Help for more information.
To start the Manager application:
- Go to the workstation designated as the render manager.
- Do one of the following:
- Choose Start | Program Files | discreet | backburner Manager.
- Open the discreet/backburner folder and double-click the Manager icon.
The Manager window appears and the messages "Starting Network Manager" and "Loading plugin: combustion render plugin" are displayed.
- To view messages about manager and server activity, keep the Manager window open.
Otherwise, you can minimize the window.
Note: You should start only one Manager application per render network. For information on using multiple managers, see the backburner Online Help.
