Starting Network Rendering

This section provides a quick start to the backburner network rendering system.

These instructions assume that the physical network is set up properly, including the TCP/IP settings. The render network refers to all the participating workstations on the physical network that are used for the rendering system. In these sections, the render network is sometimes simply called the network.

Once the participating workstations are on the network, you need to install backburner on them. See backburner Installation Basics for details.

To start a network render:
  1. Start the Manager application on the workstation designated as the manager.
  2. See Starting the backburner Manager for details.

  3. Start the Server application on all workstations on the render network.
  4. See Starting the backburner Servers for details.

  5. Once the manager and servers are running, prepare and submit a job to the manager.
  6. See Preparing a Job and Submitting a Job for details.

  7. In an active render session, you can use Monitor on any workstation on the network to view and edit jobs that are in process or in the job queue.
  8. See Using the Monitor Application for details.
