Preparing a Job

Once the render manager and servers are started, start combustion and prepare a project for rendering.

Note: You can also send jobs from the stand-alone Render Queue application.

To prepare a network rendering job:

1. Start combustion on a workstation on the render network.
2. Open the workspace file you want to render.
3. Choose File | Render, press Ctrl+R, or double-click an output node in the Schematic view.

The Render Queue dialog appears.

4. Set the render options, including the output file type.

5. If public input paths are set up for the required footage, proceed to the next step. Otherwise, see Using Public Folders for more information.
6. To set the path and filename of the rendered output, do one of the following:
• If you have already set the output filename using a public path, continue with Submitting a Job.
• If you have already set the output filename, but it uses a private path to a shared location, click Output Folder on the Global Settings panel, and set a public path for the output files. The filename on the Output Settings panel is still used.
• If a shared network location is not set up, see Using Public Folders for more information.

Note: An output path entered in the Output Folder field in the Global Settings panel overrides the file path specified in the Filename field of the Output Settings panel.
