Creating RPF and RLA Files

You create a rich pixel (RPF or RLA) file by rendering a view in 3ds max.

Note: The steps to create an RLA file are the same as in the following procedure. In the Save As dialog, select the RLA file format instead of RPF.

To create an RPF file for compositing in combustion:
  1. In 3ds max, choose Rendering | Render. In the Render Scene dialog, click Files.
  2. In the Render Output File dialog, select RPF from the Save as Type list.
  3. Navigate to the location where you want to save the file, enter a filename, and then click OK.
  4. The RPF Image File Format dialog appears.

  5. Select the channels to store in the rendered file, then click OK. See Render Channels Used in 3D Post Filters.
  6. In the Render Scene dialog, click Render to render the scene and save the file.
To modify the Render Channels settings:
  1. In the Render Scene dialog, click Files.
  2. The Save File As dialog appears.

  3. Click Setup.
  4. The RPF Image File Format dialog appears.
