Accessing edit Bins from combustion
If combustion is installed on your edit system, you can access edit Bins from the combustion file browser, even if edit is not running. You can use edit sources in combustion, and/or render work from other combustion workspaces directly to edit Bins.
To import edit sources into a combustion workspace:
- Choose File | Open or File | Import Footage.
The edit Bins appear at the top of the file browser.
- Expand the edit Bin Database and navigate to the source that you want to open.
For more information on opening or importing material, see Importing Footage.
To render material from combustion into an edit Bin:
- In combustion, choose File | Render.
- In the Render Queue dialog, enable Video Output.
- Do one of the following:
- Select a pre-defined edit preset from the Presets list. To learn more about render presets, see Using Presets.
- Select Video for Windows from the Format list, then click the Options button. In the Select Compressor dialog, select the codec for your edit configuration, set its options, and click OK.
- On the Output Settings panel, enable Add to edit Bin.
- If you made changes to edit Bins since you launched combustion, click Refresh to update the Job and Bin lists.
- Select a Job from the Job list.
- Select a Bin from the Bin list, or click New to create a new Bin in which to store the rendered file.
- Enter a source name, description, scene, and take information in the appropriate fields.
This information appears in the Log area when you open the Bin in edit. The source name is used as the filename.
- Adjust the remaining settings in the Render Queue dialog, then click Process.
A Bin clip is created. The file is rendered and stored as video source material on your edit system.
