The center is open to new members and to the possibility to expand the current program to include new days and times to practice meditation.

What is meditation

Meditation is simply an opportunity to develop a supple and reflective mind. In this way, we learn to observe ordinary things and to investigate the common causes of suffering or feelings of dis-ease in our lives, cultivating a sense of understanding and joy.

Through this attitude of observation and listening to what is happening moment to moment, meditation becomes the key to a life of attention that continually softens and opens toward things as they are.

Each meeting takes shape around practice in one or two of the three traditional meditation postures - sitting, walking or standing - as basic tools for the development of awareness. There is guided meditation for beginners.

At the beginning or end of meetings, there is often the possibility to ask questions or for brief discussions. In addition, members may request private interviews for more specific questions.

English and Italian texts for free distribution from the Theravada Forest Tradition are often available as well.

For more on the practice, you can also read an interview with John Angelori or visit the Santacittarama Monastery Website
