||||||
St. Zeno, the church of the patron saint of Verona is not the cathedral but is the town most important religious building. It was built over the place where Saint Zeno, eighth bishop of Verona, was buried after his death in 380 A.D. Satin Zeno's body can still be seen in the church crypt. After the terrible earthquake in 1117, St. Zeno's church was completely rebuilt becoming one of the most representative Romanesque building in Europe with its elegant rose windows and the protyron.
