Achievements

The Tiber Island History Museum Medal.

Utilizing our historic and iconographic researches we have had a felicitous collaboration with the Zecca di Stato, the Italian National mint, which is celebrated internationally for its production of coinages and medals.
The result is the golden bronze medal the Zecca minted for us, which has been available to our members since 1998
The obverse reproduces the medal brought out under the Roman emperor Antoninus Pius in 140 AD to celebrate the foundation of the Temple of Aesculapius on Tiber Island in 292 BC.
The reverse vignettes the designated seat of the museum, the Palazzo Pierleoni Caetani, taken from a print by Vasi published in the 18th century.

The Tiber Island Guidebook.

With our cooperation the State publishing house, Poligrafico dello Stato, is bringing out a guide to Tiber Island titled Itinerario Storico Artistico dell'Isola Tiberina, in its series of guidebooks devoted to the city of Rome.

The text, by Fabrizio Plateroti, edited by L'Associzione Museo Storico dell'Isola Tiberina, is amply illustrated, in large part from material in our files, electronic and paper.

Obverse: the serpent embodying Aesculapius arrives at Tiber Island observed by the god Tiber.

Work in progress

The Open Letter.
A campaign to inform the public about the moves to eliminate the Tiber Island Museum from the Tiber Island might be titled: How to spoil a National Monument and Abort a Roman Museum.
Friends of the Associazione have drafted an open letter to the state and municipal authorities and the public calling attention to the situation. We expect to publish the names of the signatories in our next communication.
