Habitat:
Centro Walser is located in Alta Val Sesia in the western Alps next
to the Mount Rosa. A few kilometers before Alagna, at the bottom of
this beautiful valley, you will find Riva Valdobbia;
to this commune belongs the tiny group of seven Walser houses at Peccia,
at 1520 meters altitude.
Valle Vogna is a fairy tale valley with pastures, vegetable gardens,
cherry trees, little alpine lakes and woods with rhododendrons, blueberries
and raspberries. The stream below Peccia is well known among anglers.
The house is situated right on the GTA (Great Alpine Tour) path and
there are many opportunities for hiking at different levels.
A place far from pollution, noise and chaos, a place where you can take
your time, a break from your daily life, to relax and enjoy the world
of nature and special cooking.
History:
apparently even the Walser population was not free from anxiety and
at the beginning of the 10th
century, without any specific reason, they moved from the North. The
Walser were German speaking shepherds, who with a spirit of adventure
migrated through Switzerland to different valleys in the western Alps
where they settled down in different colonies building large wooden
houses extremely beautiful and well organised with lodgement, stables,
workroom and hayloft under the same roof.
