Maria Teresa Prieto Gonzalez
Spanish from Terragona, married with an Italian and living in Italy, she started practising bobbin lace when she was a child, learning from her mother, then with Rosita Romagossa, a reputed lace teacher specialised in blonda (traditional Spanish lace) and continuous lace in general. When she came to Italy, she attended non continuous lace lessons and tried also working with colours. Later on, she could develop her knowledge of blonda with Maria Condis Marti, one of the last Spanish lacemakers of black silk mantillas. She took part successfully to many lace events like Sansepolcro International Lace Biennial, Cantù Lace Biennial, Fusello d'Oro. In 2001 she taught blonda in a stage, in collaboration with AMI (Associazione Merlettaie Italiane) and Accademia Merletti "De Amicis" , in Como Silk Museum. A lace study for a tent (designed by her friend Maria Antonia Di Stefano) appeared on the main italian lace and embroidery magazine Rakam in february 2002. She's getting on studying, teaching and working lace in her town.
