HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
The Mojo village as an official social nucleus, dates back to 1602,
when the king granted to the regent Palmerino Lanza a "licentia populandi".

However, the first historical reference to Mojo goes back to the 15th
century, when the village was the fiefdom of Tommaso Tortorici, a doctor, whose daughter
Rose had married a young man of the Lanza family.

In our century, exactly on July 27,1928 the fascist regime merged Mojo
and Malvagna into a single municipality and named it "Lanza". But in 1947, under
the modern Republic, the two towns were made autonomous administrative entities.
