Setting General Preferences

Use the General preferences to control the autosave duration, how time is displayed, and various other aspects of combustion.

To set general preferences:

In the Host category, click General.

The General preferences appear.

You can set the following options.

Save Thumbnail with Workspace

Enable to save a small image in each workspace file. The thumbnail is of the current operator in the viewport when the workspace was saved. You see the thumbnails in the Open Workspace, Save Workspace, and Import Workspace file browsers.

Note: If you have the Schematic view open when you save, there is no thumbnail. If you had a layer in layer view, you get a thumbnail of the composite the layer is in.

Save Window Positions

Enable to save the screen layout when you exit combustion. Disable to use the default window positions on startup.

Photoshop Filter Emulation

Enable to display Adobe Photoshop™ plugins in combustion in the same way as other combustion effects. For more information, see Filters.

Enable Multiprocessing

Enable to use all available processors on your system.

Use Thumbnail File Browser

Enable to use the combustion file browser when opening and saving files. Disable to use the standard system file dialog. For more information, see Using the File Browser.

Display Tooltips

Enable to show labels on tools in the Toolbar.

Remember 'Always On Top'

Enable to save the state of the Always on Top option in the Window menu.

Marquee Threshold

Use to set the "center" point of selection boundaries. For example, the default value of 128 sets the marquee in the middle of a feathered selection. For more information, see Setting Up the Selection Marquee.

Auto Save

Enable to create autosave files. Enter the duration between autosaves (in minutes) in the box.

Display Time As

Display time in either SMPTE timecode, frame numbers starting at 0, or frame numbers starting at 1. You can also toggle this preference by right-clicking (Windows) or Ctrl-clicking (Macintosh) the Duration box in the playback controls.

At Startup

Controls the default behavior when launching combustion. You can choose to create a new workspace, open an existing workspace, open the last workspace, or do nothing. The New Workspace option is the same as choosing File | New, and the Open Workspace option is the same as choosing File | Open Workspace.

Undo Levels

Set the number of undo operations available when you select Edit | Undo. The default is 100; however, the number is limited only by the amount of memory available on your system.
