Button Conventions

In addition to the standard button types, combustion uses the following conventions.

Reset Buttons

Click the Reset button to reset all the parameters under the current heading. Any animation on these parameters is also reset (all keyframes are deleted).

Fields

Use fields to set parameter values. There are several methods that you can use to set the value of a field. You can type a specific numeric value, use a slider, or use a calculator.

To type a value:
  1. Click a field once to change it to a numeric input field.
  2. Type a value, and then press Enter.
To use a slider:
  1. Click and drag the cursor over a field to change it to a slider. Drag the cursor to the right to increase the value; drag it to the left to decrease it.
  2. There are two kinds of sliders: infinite range sliders and fixed range sliders. Infinite range sliders display diagonal stripes when you drag them.

    Fixed range sliders use a range indicator to highlight the selected value within the range.

  3. To change how precisely the slider value increases or decreases, use the following options:

    Increase or decrease the value.

    Ctrl-drag

    Command-drag

    Increase or decrease the value by more precise increments.

    Shift-drag

    Shift-drag

    Increase or decrease the value by larger increments.

    Ctrl-click

    Command-click

    Increase or decrease the value by very fine increments.

    Alt-click

    Option-click

    Snap the range indicator to the cursor position. This option is available for fixed range sliders only.



To use a calculator:
  1. Double-click a field to launch the calculator.
  2. The unit and value range (if applicable) appear at the top of the calculator.

  3. Once you have calculated the required value, click OK to enter the result in the selected field.
  4. Note: MC is Memory Clear, MR is Memory Recall, MS is Memory Save, and M+ is Add to Memory. When a number is in memory, an M appears above MC.

    Note: To use the calculator with the numeric keypad on your keyboard, make sure you have enabled the Num Lock key on your keyboard.

You can also use the calculator for time. Toggle F/TC for frames or timecode. The tag "Frm DF" means Frames using Drop Frame.
