Selecting in Composite Operators
To access the selection tools from a composite, you apply a selection operator to the appropriate layer. After applying a selection operator to a layer, selection controls appear. These controls are similar to the controls in Paint, except that only the selection tools are available.
To access selection tools from a composite:
- Select the layer (or nest the layers) to which you want to apply a selection.
- Choose Operators | Selections, then choose one of the following:
Choose: To:Create a selection based on a color channel in the current layer or in any operator in the workspace.
Create an elliptical selection.
When you choose this command, a default size elliptical selection is added to the layer in the middle of the viewport.
Select materials in an RLA or RPF file. For more information, see combustion and 3ds max.
Select objects in an RLA or RPF file. For more information, see combustion and 3ds max.
When you choose this command, a default size rectangular selection is added to the layer in the middle of the viewport.
- Click the Toolbar tab.
- Make the necessary selection.
- Return to the composite and apply an effect to the layer.
The effect only appears on the selected portion of the layer.
