Setting Preferences

This section describes how to use the Render Queue preference settings to control various aspects of the rendering process. combustion saves your preference settings from session to session.

To set the preferences:

1. In the Render Queue, click Preferences.

The Render Queue Preferences dialog appears.

2. Set the options as required, then click OK.

The following sections describe the available options.

General Preferences

Use the General preferences to control the behavior of the Render Queue on startup.

Max Render Cache Usage

Sets the maximum memory usage for the Render Queue dialog in combustion. Cache can be set in megabytes or percentage of available RAM.

Update Thumbnail Proxy

Displays the current frame in the thumbnail proxy when rendering or setting the render range. When enabled, the thumbnail in the Render Queue attempts to update in real time as you drag the render range timebar or the in or out points. When disabled, the thumbnail is still visible, but it only updates after the setting in the render range is changed.

Render Scheduling Settings

Use these preference settings to schedule a time at which rendering of the current workspace will begin automatically. The Render Queue dialog must remain open to use this feature. For more information, see Scheduling When to Render.

Use Timer

Enables rendering at a scheduled date and time.

Start Render Time

Specifies the hour and minute at which rendering will begin.

Start Render Date

Specifies the day on which rendering will begin.

On Render Completion Preferences

Use these preferences to customize how combustion notifies you that rendering has been completed, and to set up e-mail delivery options.

Play Sound

Beeps when rendering is complete.

Display Dialog

Provides visual notification when rendering is complete. A dialog appears with the message "Rendering Process Finished."

Limit Attachment Size To

Provides a way to limit the maximum size for e-mail attachments. If you enable this option, enter a value (in kilobytes) in the adjacent field.

From

Sets the e-mail address that render notification e-mails are sent from.

Server

Sets the e-mail server that render notification e-mails are sent from.

Use these preferences to set how the backburner Manager connection is made. For more information, see Network Rendering.

Note: These preferences do not appear on the Macintosh platform.
