Away go the first 500 gas-filled balloons

released by comedian Terry -Thomas 

 from Blackford Hill Edinburgh. 

The person who find the balloon which travels

 farthest by 31 May and returns 

 the label attached will get a prize.

The stunt has been organised by the 

Scottish National Institution for the War 

blinded in connection with an exibition golf match at Barnton

 He returned this week from a seven day 

personal appearance tour in the American

Terry visited the Odeon Cinema Northfields 

to present a cake to the pensioner 

whose birthday fell nearest to the date 

of his visit Mr. Walter James of Kingsdown 

avenue who is 88 years old.

12 August  1960

 Terry wearing the Vest Jacket he led panel 

of Judges which chose this at the £.100 

winner of a competition held by 

Lightning Fasteners Limited and "Tailor & Cutter"  

 for a new third garment of a man's suit. 

Vest Jacket designed by Mr. R. Pescod of 

Adeney &  Boutroy, Sackville Street London.

At reception held at the Savoy Hotel, London.

14 September   1960 

 Terry advise in article magazine  

"Men choose slip-ons for work and leisure 

(Terry have 48 pairs of shoes in his wardrobe)

10 October  1960   

Terry-Thomas did not proceed with his defended divorce 

petition when it was 

 called  in the divorce court, London. 

On his application the petition was dismissed. 

He married a former ballet dancer Ida Patlanski in 1938. 

His counsel Mr. S. Seuffert told Mr. Justice Stevenson 

that in the petition desertion 

was alleged, and the Husband would have asked for the 

Court's discretion. 

He had decided not to pursue the matter.

For the wife, Mr. Colin Duncan said his only interest 

was to ask for her costs.

The Judge - Very well.
