Comedian Terry-Thomas saved three English tourist whose dinghy capsized off Majorca. Terry and Belinda were on a pedalboat when they saw the red, fibre-glass dinghy overturn. The occupants Edwin Morgan aged 52 his wife Margery, and his friend Eric Wadham, all of West Wickham, werw thown in the water. Said Terry: "Belinda and I paddled quickly to the upturned boat. One man shouted: save my wife, save my wife, she cannot swim". Terry and Belinda in swimsuits, divided off the pedalboat and helped the three to clamber aboard, then they swam back to shore guiding the pedalboat. Morgan's wallet, with £. 50 in it, fell from the boat. The couple are returning home at the week-end after only one week's holiday. Said Terry: " There was nothing heroic about it. Anyone in a similar circumstance would have done same". Later Mr.Morgan a dry cleaner said: " We shall always be grateful for their quick action. Fortunately all three of us are completely well and none the worse for the accident, but it could have been a different ending, especially for my non-swimmer wife" |
