Dal 1377 residenza del Papa e della curia pontificia, il Vaticano nasce come Stato con il Trattato stipulato tra Santa Sede e Regno d’Italia l’11 febbraio 1929. Il territorio si estende sulla riva destra del Tevere per circa 44 ettari, quasi interamente delimitati dalle mura Leonine. Si accede allo Stato attraverso tre ingressi, sorvegliati dalla Guardia Svizzera Pontificia: Portone di Bronzo (a destra di San Pietro); Arco delle Campane (a sinistra di San Pietro); Cancello di Sant’Anna (via di Porta Angelica). - BASILICA di SAN PIETRO. E’ aperta dalle 7 alle 18, al suo interno si possono visitare: Tombe dei Papi dalle 7 alle 17 - Tesoro di San Pietro dalle 9 alle 17.30 Cupola ingresso dal portico con ascensore per la prima parte.- TOMBA di SAN PIETRO e Necropoli. Per visitare gli scavi sotto la Basilica si deve presentare una richiesta scritta, con alcuni giorni di anticipo, alla Fabbrica di San Pietro - Ufficio Scavi, specificando nome e numero dei visitatori, lingua, data desiderata, recapito. La richiesta può essere inoltrata per lettera o compilandola nell’Ufficio stesso (a destra dopo l’Arco delle Campane). L’Ufficio confermerà telefonicamente il giorno e l’ora della visita guidata (2 ore circa - dalle 9 alle 17 festivi chiuso). La visita si effettua tutti i giorni escluso mercoledì e festivi alle ore 10 ( euro 8.78), a richiesta si organizzano visite per gruppi di almeno 20 persone anche in altri orari e tariffe da pattuire.- MUSEI VATICANI e CAPPELLA SISTINA. Vatican is the residence of the Pope and of the papal curia since 1377, the Vatican becomes a State with the treaty drawn up between the Holy See and the Kingdom of Italy 11th february 1929. Its territory,nearly entirely defined by the Leonine Walls, extends on the right bank of the Tiber for about 44 hectares. The State has three entrances, controlled by the Papal Swiss Guards: the Bronze Door (on the right of Saint Peter); the Bells Arch (on the left of Saint Peter) and St. Anne’s Gate (via di Porta Angelica). - SAINT PETER BASILICA It is open from 7am to 6pm, inside the Basilica you may visit: Tombs of the Popes 7am to 5pm - Saint Peter’s Treasure 9am to 5.30pm - Dome entrance from the portico, with the lift for the first part.- SAINT PETER’S TOMB and NECROPOLIS To visit the excavations under Saint Peter’s Basilica you need to present a written request to Saint Peter Factory - Excavations Office, specifyng name and number of visitors, language,desired date and address, some days in advance. The request may be forwarded by mail or by filling-in a form directly at the Office (on the right after the Bells Arch). The Excavations Office will confirm day and time of thevisit(guided, about 2 hours) by phone. The visit (2 hours) is scheduled every day, except Wednesdays and holidays, from 10am £. 17000.
