Setting Rendering Preferences

This section describes how to use the Render Queue preference settings to control various aspects of the batch renderer. The application saves the preference settings from session to session.

To set rendering preferences:
  1. In the stand-alone Render Queue, click Preferences.
  2. The Render Queue Preferences dialog appears.

  3. Set the preferences as you would in the Render Queue dialog. For details, see Setting Preferences.
  4. There are a few additional preferences not found in the preferences for the Render Queue dialog in combustion. The following sections describe these options.

  5. Click OK.

General Preferences

The General preferences for the stand-alone Render Queue include two preferences not available in the Render Queue dialog in combustion.

Use these preferences to control the behavior of the stand-alone Render Queue on startup and the time display.

At Startup

Controls the default behavior when launching the stand-alone Render Queue. You can choose to launch the Open Workspace browser, or do nothing.

Display Time As

Displays time in either SMPTE timecode, frame numbers starting at 0, or frame numbers starting at 1. This affects time display in the stand-alone Render Queue only. To change time display in combustion, see Setting General Preferences.

Max Render Cache Usage

Sets the maximum memory usage for the stand-alone Render Queue application on render-only stations. This preference is in combustion also, but here it controls the memory for the stand-alone Render Queue only. Cache can be set in megabytes or percentage of available RAM.

Batch Render Preferences

The Batch Render preferences for the Render Queue include three preferences.

Watch Folder

Sets the path and name of the folder that the Render Queue watches for new workspace files. Click Watch Folder to browse to the folder.

Check Watch Folder Every

Sets the frequency that the Render Queue checks for new files in the watched folder.

Automatic Quick Setup

Ensures the outputs in the workspaces to be rendered have filenames and a preset selected. For more information about Quick Setup, see Using Quick Setup.
