Istituto
Superiore "A.Veronese"
is a State High School
in Montebelluna,
in the North-East of Italy.
|
|
Istituto Superiore Veronese is in
Montebelluna, a town of 25.000 in the VENETO region, in the North East of
Italy. It is only 30 miles from Venice, in the Province of Treviso.
From an economic point of view, the area
is quite wealthy, with several small and medium-size industries; the main
products are sport shoes (many world-famous brands have their head offices
here). However, the main company in the area is Benetton.

Apart from Venice, there are many other
interesting places in this region, such as Padua, seat of one of the most
ancient Universities in the world, Verona, home of Shakespeare's Juliet,
the beautiful medieval village of Asolo, the Dolomites
Mountains, the
Adriatic coast and many others.

Our school is a State High
School; we have about 600 students, between 14 and 19 years old, mostly (but not
all) girls.
Subjects compulsory for all students are
Italian, English, Math and Computer Sciences, Biology, History, Literature,
Philosophy, Physics, History, Geography, Art. The students must then choose
one of the three curricula offered by the school:
|
Liceo Linguistico,
whose curriculum
includes the study of three compulsory foreign languages (English,
French and German; Spanish is vocational); |
|
Liceo delle Scienze Sociali
(Psychology,
Anthropology and Social Sciences); |
|
Liceo delle Scienze Umane, (Latin,
Psychology, Art and Music). |
School starts at 8:00 a.m. and it finishes at 1 p.m.
every day from Monday to
Saturday; in the afternoon the school offers
extracurricular activities or students can meet their teachers for extra
work. |

Cultural exchanges with foreign schools
are an important part of our curriculum; our students spend a period (usually
from 10 to 20 days) in a foreign country, and have a chance to attend
school there and share family life; in the same way, our partners return
the visit, stay with our students' families, attend our school, work on
different projects together with our students and visit the area; all in
all, they have a chance to experience first-hand a different culture and a
different school system. The exchanges are usually organized on a
reciprocity basis: our guests only pay their flight tickets and personal
insurances, while during their stay in Italy all their expenses (including
trips and entrance tickets) are covered by the host families or the school;
the same happens when we return the visit. Of course, different
arrangements are possible.
