Il Duo pianoforte - violoncello composto dalle sorelle statunitensi Avi e Shana Downes sta riscuotendo da alcuni anni grande successo in campo concertistico.
Dopo aver ottenuto diversi primi premi in competizioni internazionali quali l'A.R.D. a Monaco di Baviera, il Maria Callas a Barcellona, il Vittorio Gui a Firenze, nonché nei Concorsi di musica da camera di Trapani, Finale Ligure e Pavia, il Duo ha cominciato ad esibirsi in tutta l'Europa (Francia, Svizzera, Germania, Austria, Olanda, Spagna e Italia), nonché negli Stati Uniti. Sono state invitate ad esibirsi in recital al Concertgebouw di Amsterdam e a prendere parte a numerosi festival internazionali quali il Pablo Casals Festival a Prades, a Schleswig-Holstein, a Verbier, per la Corinthischer Sommer, per l'Accademia Musicale Chigiana, a Riva del Garda e per l'Hindemith Festival della Fondazione Hindemith di Montreux.
Hanno registrato sia per la radio che per la televisione in Germania e in Italia.
Sia la pianista Avi Downes che la violoncellista Shana Downes hanno iniziato gli studi musicali a San Francisco all'età di quattro anni. Si sono trasferite in Europa all'età rispettivamente di 14 e 16 anni per completare i loro studi nei Conservatori di Vienna, in Svizzera e Germania, Avi con Hans Graf, Rudolf Buchbinder e Pavel Giliov, mentre Shana con André Navarra, Johannes Goritzki e Frans Helmerson.

The piano-cello Duo of american sisters Avi and Shana Downes has for many years enjoyed great success on the concert stage.
After receiving many top prizes from International Competitions including the A.R.D. in Munich, the Maria Callas in Barcelona, the Vittorio Gui in Florence and the Chamber Music Competitions of Trapani, Finale Ligure and the Città di Pavia, the Duo began performing widely throughout Europe (France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Spain and Italy) and the United States. They have been invited to perform in recital at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and participate in many prestigious festivals such as the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, Schleswig - Holstein, Verbier, Corinthscher Sommer, Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Riva del Garda and the Hindemith Festival of the Foundation Hindemith in Montreux.
They have recorded and broadcasted for radio and television in Germany and Italy.
Avi Downes (pianist) and Shana Downes (cellist) both began their musical studies in San Francisco at the age of four. They moved to Europe at the age of 14 and 16 to complete their studies at Hochschule in Vienna, Switzerland and Germany, Avi with Hans Graf, Rudolf Buchbinder and Pavel Giliov, and Shana with André Navarra, Johannes Goritzki and Frans Helmerson.
