We stayed in Giardini Naxos for 2 days. This town is not so special except for its sea view, but it is very convenient situated for visits to Taormina (by Car or Train), and to Mt. Etna also (by car). it is Only 7-8 km to Taormina. And we easily found accommodation there ( In Taormina, it would be impossible to find even a small hotel!). | ||||||||||||

Teatro Greco There were so many tourist drawing this Theatre with Mt. Etna as a background. In fact, they really go well together. |

We walked down the main street (Corso Umberto). We started from Teatro Greco, passed Piazza. IX Aprile (left photo on the left), then finished at the porta Catania. We tried marzapane ( almond cake - right photo on the left) but we didn't like it. |  (Teatro Greco inside) |

We drove to the entrance of Mt. Etna. Then We took the lift (some people were walking!). There was no green at all, because of the eruptions. After we had got to the 2500m high point, we waited for the minibus to take us to a much higher point. | |||||||||||

We walked toward the crater, but it was still active, so we could only walk around within safely area. The earth was very warm, some parts were even very hot for activity. I picked a few stones as a souvenir. |  |
