Rosa
Spagnolo is
a child neurologist and psychiatrist, a child/ adolescent
psychotherapist, a psychoanalyst, Full Member of the Italian
Psychoanalytical Society (SPI), IPA Member, and NPSA Member. She
is Chair of the IPA Task Force “Freud Legacy”, a project to
map the Freudian Heritage and register his Legacy in the UNESCO
list. She works in the National Health Service on the
rehabilitation of deafness, learning/speech disabilities, and
developmental disorders. She is primarily an expert in the
treatment of cognitive delays, autism, and child psychoses;
she has been working with neuromotor and rare diseases in
new-borns. She is the co-founder of the Italian Psychoanalytic Dialogues.
She is a passionate scholar of neuroscience. She has
participated in conferences, and lectures on topics related to
neuropsychiatric developmental
disorder and various other psychoanalytical topics.
In 2007, she published a novel, Chantal (Maremmi Editore, Florence),
on scientific ethical issues, and has numerous professional publications
to her credit.

Rosa
Spagnolo è
un neuropsichiatra infantile, psicoanalista, membro ordinario
della Società Psicoanalitica Italiana (SPI), Membro IPA e
Membro NPSA. È chair della Task Force IPA "Freud Legacy",
un progetto per mappare il patrimonio freudiano e registrare la
sua eredità nella lista UNESCO. Lavora presso il Servizio
sanitario nazionale per la riabilitazione della sordità, dei
disturbi dell'apprendimento/ linguaggio e dello sviluppo. È
esperta nel trattamento di ritardi cognitivi, autismo e psicosi
infantili; ha lavorato con le patologie neuromotorie e le malattie
rare nei neonati. E’ co-fondatrice di Italian Psychoanalytic
Dialogues.
Studiosa
attenta e appassionata di neuroscienze a cui dedica le sue
ricerche. Ha partecipato a vario titolo a conferenze e convegni su
argomenti relativi alla neuropsichiatria dello
sviluppo infantile e
vari altri temi psicoanalitici. Nel 2007 ha pubblicato un

SYNOPSIS
There
are extraordinarily exciting periods in the history of science which
bring new openings on the fringes of a particular field. We are in the
midst of one of these periods: a large number of new discoveries
regarding the functioning of the mind are published every day. These
new findings in neuroscience are revealing unexpected aspects of
neuroscience and pushing the entire field toward unexplored regions.
Besides
the advancement in the understanding of psychic processes,
neuroscience offers psychoanalysts the opportunity to enhance the
dialogue with psychiatrists, neurologists, and other scientists,
expanding the theoretical model. It is clear that the relationship
between psychoanalysis, neuroscience, and neuropsychoanalysis is
controversial. So, the dialogue between neuroscience and clinical
findings is essential.
Building
a bridge between neuropsychoanalysis and psychoanalysis through the
clinical session is the main purpose of the book, which consists of
two parts. The first part provides a theoretical view on dream,
depression, addiction, panic and how to consider the study of a single
case. Rosa Spagnolo takes us to the core of this book, exploring the
relationship between psychoanalysis and empirical research. Margaret
Zellner and Mark Solms provide new findings in the field of addiction,
depression and panic, conditions we deal with every day in our
practice. According to both these analysts, integration between
psychopharmacology and psychotherapy appears to be the most effective
treatment for these psychopathologies, and it is therefore crucial
that psychoanalysis be included among these effective therapies. Salas,
Casassus and Turnbull show how, studying a single case, we can build a
bridge from the subjective to the objective. The second part is
clinical in nature: when psychoanalysis meets neuropsychoanalysis what
is the impact on the clinical session? Four vignettes on panic,
addiction depression and early related trauma, introduced by some
patients’ dreams, help us to explore these new findings.

scienza che portano a nuove aperture ai confini di un campo
particolare. Siamo nel mezzo di uno di questi periodi: un gran numero
